Criminal Behaviour

Written

September 1999

Notes

Criminal Behaviour is about shared times that come to an end, admitting that you need your audience (whoever they may be) and that things are never the same when they're gone. To some extent, a musician's song - it was actually written from the point of view of a performer finishing a set and preparing to make his own farewells to the attendees.

Lyrics

Drain your glass with laughter
I'll make light as you don your shoes
But when you're not here will I sing the blues?
And isn't it frightening
That I can stay silent so long

That's just criminal behaviour
And I'm thinking you won't care for the truth
But that's my criminal nature shining through

Put your hands in your pockets
Make peace with your god
This light will fade once you're out in the cold
And it is frightening
How you can stay away so long

That's just criminal behaviour
And I'm thinking it's too late for the truth
But that's my criminal nature shining through
